The First Fleet. The First Fleet of ships to carry convicts from England to Botany Bay sailed from Portsmouth, England, on 13 May 1787. It arrived at Botany Bay on 18 January 1788. 11 ships which left Great Britain on 13 May 1787 to found a penal colony that became the first European settlement in Australia. -
Gatling Gun
The Gatling Gun was a rapid-fire, crank-driven gun with clustered barrels. It was also the first Machiene gun ever. It was invented by Richard Jordan Gatling during the American Civil War, and later used in the Spanish-American War. Each Barrel fired a single shot when it reached a certain point in the cycle. The Gatling Gun was an important role in the civil war. -
Womens Suffrage
Womens suffrage in Australia began to be established uring the late 19th century, It started with South Australia in 1895 and then Western Australia in 1902. Australia's first female political canidate was Catherine Helen Spence. Australian women won the vote in 1895 and Catherine stood for office in 1897. -
Duntroon Military College Founded
It was Established on June 27th 1911. The first Commander of The college was General William Bridges, who died later on a hospital ship after being shot by a sniper on the shores of Gallipoli.The First World War provided the college with its first chance to demonstrate its worth. However, when the war broke out in August 1914, there had not been enough time for the first class to complete the full Duntroon course. -
Battle Of Gaza
The first battle of gaza took place on the 26th march 1917. The coastal city of Gaza was the heart of the main Turkish defensive position in southern Palestine. Three major battles were launched in 1917 by British and dominion forces to capture Gaza. The second battle of gaza took place 3 weeks later beginning on the 17 april 1917 Dobell launched another frontal assault on the Turkish defences, which was supported by six tanks and gas shells.
