Henry The Navigator
the prince of Portugul Henry urged sea captians to explore the southward coast of Africa.He urged them to do that because he wanted them to find a route around the continetnt to the spice islands. In 1497-1498 a portuguese explorer named Vasco da Columbus found a route and sailed all the way to India. -

*King henry VII sent Cobot on a voyage to the west.
*They thought that there was a water route through the Americas that would lead them north or west to Asia.
*He landed on the Northern Atlantic Coast of North America porbably the island of Newfoundland.
*Failed to find the route and later gave up on it. -

*Juan Ponce de Leon was a spanish official in the new world.
*he explored and settled the island of Puerto Rico.
* Takeing the notice back in Spain, King Ferdinand autherized Ponce da leon to explore lands north of Cuba. -

- Juan Ponce de Leon's Expedition landed on the coast of Florida. *They sailed the east coast and through the Florida Key. *Then they crusied down along the west coast of Florida for about 100 miles. *His expediton reaveled that large tracts of land ripe for exploration lay to the north of the Caribbean Island.

*King Francis I of France Sent Italian Naviogater Giovanni da Verrazano Westward.
*He first landed on the north Carolina's Outer Banks.
*He saw the pacific ocean from across the land in fact he was really looking at the Pamlico and Albemerle Sounds.
*He went farther up the coast and explored.
* he reaturned to France and gave a great report but the king was not to occupied with the military so he did not sponsor any more voyages.
