France finds Foothold in Canada
In 1598 the Edict of Nates was issued by the government of France. This Edict granted limited religious freedom to French Protestants, and stopped religious wars between the Protestants and Catholics. This is signifigance in history because it restored the interal peace of France and allows for a future of unity without war in France. -
King Williams War
First war between European Power for control of North America. This event in history is significant primarily because it was the first of the French and Indian wars. Which will lead to many hostilities between the british colonies, the french, and the spanish. It also showed the significance of North America which made people in power yearn for control even more.The wars ended in 1713 with peace terms signed. Britain received French-populated acadia, and limited trading rights. -
George Washington Inaugurates War with France
George Washington was sent to Ohio to secure land owned by virginia that was being threatened by the French. George Washington killed the french leader causing reinforcements to arrive sending the virginians as far as Louisiana.
This event in history is Extremely significant because this defeat lead to more of an exspansion west. -
The Albany Congress
Meeting attempting to unite all of the colonies but 7 of 13 colony delegates showed up the plan was hated by individual colonists and the London regime. This event is signifanct in history primarily because it formed much of the basis for the later American governments such as the Articles of Confederation of 1777 and the Constitution of 1787 -
The Treaty of Paris
Treaty signed by Great Britain, France, and Spain terminating the Seven Years War. This event is significant because the breaking of the treaty leads to one of the most memorable events in history. The Revolutionary War. -
Proclamation of 1763
Proclamation/document prohibiting settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians. This is significant primarily because it divided the indians and settlers in order to keep peace and prevent war.
