Glaciers melted and flooded Earth, leaving limited lands with warring factions. -
1. Tool Escapes
Tool is a Bio-engineered animal meant to be a super soldier. His master died so he wanders the world. Tool got captured by a warlord and was used as a ring fighter. When he escaped he was still wounded and being chased by his previous warlord captor. Tool also wants revenge on his captor. -
2. Mahlia Permorms a C-Section Operation
In the moments after Mahlia finishes the operation, she gives some personal insight on when a group of people called the “Peacekeepers” were in power. Also, she briefly touches on the current predicament of the world. The outcome of the operation forces her to go into the jungle with a boy named Mouse in search of food for the baby. -
3. Tool Fights Alligator
Tool wounds one of the soldiers that were pursuing him in the jungle, forcing them to seek help from Mahlia for medical attention. After the “Soldier Boys” set off for refuge in town, Tool gets into a fight with an alligator and gets badly hurt. Tool kills the alligator leaving the corpse as bait and the wounds he received make him weak enough to look dead. -
4. Mahlia and Mouse Find Tool in Jungle
When Mahlia and Mouse stumble upon Tool, Tool captures Mouse and uses him to make Mahlia in Tool’s debt. This debt forces Mahlia to sabotage the Soldier Boys and heal Tool. This also jumpstarts Mahlia’s plans and hopes for an escape from the Drowned Cities. -
5. Mahlia Returns to Village
When Mahlia goes back to the village to find medicine for Tool, the Soldier Boys forced her to heal one of the soldiers, SGT Ocho, which makes him in debt to her. The soldiers don’t stop watching her because she was acting suspicious. -
6. Mahlia Sabotages Soldier Boys
Mahlia sabotages the soldiers with cowolve spray to attract cowolves so she can escape and get back to Tool with the medicine. This causes the leader of the soldiers, LT Sayle, to hate her and to start searching for her. -
7. Healing Tool
When Mahlia and Mouse healed Tool, it emotionally separated Mahlia from Mouse because Mouse felt that Tool was dangerous and shouldn’t be trusted. Tool started to feel that Mahlia would be a good hunting partner. Healing Tool also gave Mahlia more hope for her plan to use Tool in their escape from the Drowned Cities. -
8. Burning of Village and Separation
LT Sayle burned the village in his anger against Mahlia. During the burning of the town, Mouse and Mahlia get separated. This is also when Mouse gets captured by the soldiers and “recruited” into the UPF (United Patriot Front). Tool shows his usefulness by sniffing out the enemy soldiers. -
9. Mouse Becomes a Soldier
When Mouse is recruited, his name is changed to Ghost and he travels south to the Drowned Cities with the other soldiers. Mahlia hears that Mouse is “recruited” and she goes to rescue him instead of going north with Tool. -
10. Tool Comes Back
Tool changes plans and decides to come back to get revenge on the soldiers. He is impressed when he meets up again with Mahlia because she killed a cowolve all by herself. Tool agrees to help Mahlia to get into the Drowned Cities. -
11. Mouse/Ghost Encounters Artillery
After being brought into the Drowned Cities and put on patrol, Mouse/Ghost was ambushed by artillery. When he diverted the artillery and saved his squad Mouse/Ghost became a “true soldier”. -
12. Mahlia and Tool Sneak into City
Tool helps Mahlia sneak into the Drowned Cities so that they can find and rescue Mouse and kill the leader of one of the warring groups. They hide in Mahlia’s old house were they find lots of old antiques. -
13. Mouse/Ghost Found
While waiting in the old house, Mahlia sees Mouse and attempts to bring him with her. This turns out to be a trap, and both Mahlia and Tool are brought to the “war room” used by their enemies, the leader of the UPF and LT Sayle. -
14. Fight in War Room
After Mahlia and Tool are captured, they are tortured along with Mouse/Ghost. Too late Mouse realizes his mistake and dies trying to protect Mahlia. Then SGT Ocho frees Tool and Mahlia because he feels bad for them and was in debt to Mahlia. After being freed Tool kills all the enemies in the room for revenge. -
15. Great Escape
Once everyone is dead in the war room, SGT Ocho takes control of the squad and uses them to help Tool and Mahlia. They retrieve the antiques from Mahlia’s house and use them to buy passage on a boat out of the Drowned Cities. However, at the last minute Tool decides to stay behind because the Drowned Cities are where he feels at home.
