Destruction of King Solomon's Temple
King Solomon's Temple was a Jewish temple that was destructed. Part of the temple was called the wailing wall, where people could send thier prayers up to heaven faster by writing them on strips of paper and sticking them in the crevices of the wall. Note: Actual destruction was in the year 70AD, but for some reason, it is not able to be shown on the timeline that way. -

Saladin, a Jewish leader, personally joined his troups in "purifying" the Dome of the Rock by removing all Christian images and inscriptions. -
Gold plating added to Dome
The original Dome was lead, but with a gold-colored covering. In 1960, it was replaced with gold plating. -
Construction
Muslim ruler Abd el-Malik started building the Dome of the Rock over the sacred rock that Muslims believe Muhammad stood when he ascended to heaven.
