The Beginning of the Gold rush
John Lister had found gold in Lewis Ponds Creek near the present locality of Lewis Ponds, near Byng, and showed his samples to Edward Hargraves prior to Hargraves claim of finding gold there in February 1851. -
Edward Hardgraves Find
Edward Hammond Hargraves confirms John Lister's find of gold in Lewis Ponds Creek near Byng, and claims he found it.
John Lister and William Tom, working on instructions from Hargraves (who was at home in Gosford), found payable gold at Yorkey's Corner at Ophir. Hargraves claimed credit for this find, and reaped all the rewards. Lister and Tom got nothing until 1890. -
Gold Discovery at Lucknow

Gold was shortly found in bathurst after the find in Summerhill creek. Hundreds of thousands of people rushed to the Bathurst goldfields. It was found by American surveyor Edward hardgraves with the help of the Tom brothers and John lista. -

There was an uprising in Victoria over the unecessarily expensive gold liscenses and many were killed and fatally injured. it was the start of the Eureka stockade as it went all over the country causing many different uprisings. -
