Isolation
The book starts with Thomas (the main character) in a white room being isolated from everyone. -
Let him out
After 26 days from being isolated, the door from the room opens... a man called Rat Man Jason appeared and told Thomas all the purpose of WICKED (a company that is beating with The Flare). After that, Rat Man lets Thomas go out of the room. -
Reunited
Rat Man took Thomas to a room where all his friends from The Glades were. Everyone is back together. -
The Flare
Rat Man tells the gang (Thomas and his Glader friends) who is immune The Flare* and who isn't. Most people are immune except for Newt (a friend of Thomas).
* The Flare: is a virus that slowly eats the brain, turning people into canivalists. People who have The Flare are usually called Cranks. -
Revelation
Rat Man tells everyone that they are going to have their memories back... but Thomas, Newt and Minho (Thomas's friend) didn't believed what WICKED said.
They rebel against having the surgery but they were caught and put in separated rooms. -
Escaping WICKED
Brenda is a girl who helped Thomas in the prevous book named Scorth Trials. Now, in Thomas operating room, Brenda appears again working from WICKED (although she was against it). She helps Thomas escape his memory surgery, Minho's and Newt's as well. Eventually they escape and go out to the hangar where Jorge (a guy from Scorth Trials who helped him as well as Brenda) was. -
Getting away
Thomas, Brenda, Jorge, Newt and Minho fly to Denver to get as far away from WICKED as possible. When they arrived to Denver, Newt starts to feel the sympthons of The Flare años stay on the plane. -
First mission
Thomas gets a note from Gally (a men from the first book of the series named Maze Runner) saying that he wants to meet him. However Brenda said that the gang had to meet Hans because he is a doctor and has to remove chips from the boys brains (these chip helped WICKED track them).
Eventually Thomas decided to first meet Gally and then go with Hans -
Meeting Gally and Hans
The gang meets with Gally and he tells that he is part of the Right Arm, which is an underground group against WICKED. After this, they go to Hans's place where he agrees to take out the chips from the brains, but just before he was going to WICKED starts to control Thomas's brain, making him go crazy, until Hans sedantes him and takes out his chip. -
Returining to WICKED?
Thomas goes to meet Gally again, but in the way he gets caught up, being held as hostage. It was a kind of bounty hunter because Thomas was told that he needed to return back to WICKED and if he didn't return, they'll never find a cure for The Flare. -
Another note
When they were returning to the plane that brought them to Denver, a note was left... it said that Newt was taken to a place with other Cranks called Crank Palace. Off the gang went there, and when they arrived they found Newt. They were all happy to find him, but he wasn't... he told them to leave and threatened to shoot them if they didn't. -
Incident with the Right Arm
When the gang was returning from the Cranks Palace, they were arrested by the Right Arm. The gang was thrown in a room filled with people, and it turned out that the people were some other Gladers, including Teresa (a friend of Thomas from the past book series).
Thomas and Brenda agree with the Right Arm that they will infiltrate WICKED. -
Newt
On the ride to WICKED they find Newt... He was under the effects of The Flare and started to attack Thomas shouting he'll kill him. At the end it was the other way around, Thomas killed Newt. -
WICKED inflitration
Once Thomas is inside WICKED, he was told that he was the Final Candidate and that WICKED needs his brain in order to get a cure... Meanwhile Thomas plants a device that disables WICKED's weapons. Then he was brought to the operating room (where they will take away his brain) while Right Arm infiltrated WICKED... Thomas was sedated and doesn't remember what had happened, but when he wakes up he finds a note from Chancellor Paige. -
New life
Paige's letter said that she had stopped the operation, and that he has to reunite the immune people WICKED has and take them to Flat Trans. Thomas thought it was a great plan and followed what the letter said. -
Real intention
Thomas was gathering all the immune people when he found out that Right Arm's intention was destroying the whole headquarters from WICKED. There were many deaths because of falling ceiling stones, but eventually all the gang came out safe. -
Back to where it all began, the Maze
After leading with the Right Arm, the gang has to go through the Maze and beat the Grievers* in order to get to the Flat Trans. Luckily the gang is able to kill ALL the Grievers and pass through the Maze, reaching Flat Trans.
*Horrible creatures that live in the Maze and come out only at night, who can be able to kill people. This creatures appear on the first book of the series called Maze Runner. -
Tragedy
When the inmune people were jumping in the Flat Trans, the Rat Man and his team attack Thomas and his friends. Thomas gave the Rat Man a lesson, and killed him... but that wasn't the only death, Teresa died saving Thomas. -
Place known as paradise
As time passed, everyone got out of the Flat Trans safe. All the immune people to The Flare are creating a new life in a place known as paradise... Blue oceans and green everywhere. Thomas had made it, he finally defeated WICKED.
