Jacques's Death (Exposition)
Jacques confronts an albino monk who is demanding the secrets of the Priory. Jacques is then shot after telling the albino what he knows. The albino had also killed the other three sénéchaux and so Jacques has to pass the secrets on to someone he trusts. "He was trapped inside the Grand Gallery, and there existed only one person on earth to whom he could pass the torch" (Brown 5). -
Robert Langdon and the Louvre (Exposition)
Robert Langdon, a college professor and expert in symbology, is brought into the story when he's called to the Louvre because that's where Jacques was murdered. The Louvre is a museum located in Paris. He's called down the the museum to try and figure out who murdered Jacques because there were symbols on Jacques's body. Fache, the head of the police, is the one that suspects Robert of murdering Jacques and will stop at nothing to put him in jail. -
Sophie Neveu Arrives (Exposition)
A cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, shows up at the Louvre since there are symbols and codes on Jacques's body. Sophie is the granddaughter of Jacques and thinks he is trying to tell her something. She tells Robert that he is the prime suspect for the murder because his name was on Jacques's body. Sophie and Robert go to the bathroom so that Sophie can get rid of the tracker that's on Langdon and they run from the police. -
Going Back (Rising Action)
After attempting to leave the Louvre and being chased by the police, Sophie and Langdon have to go back to figure out a clue Jacques left for them. The clue leads them to the Mona Lisa where a guard almost catches them. They then found another clue that led them to find a key that had PS engraved on it. -
Dead End for Silas (Rising Action)
After getting the location of the keystone, Silas goes to Saint-Sulpice church to retrieve it. But instead of finding the keystone, he finds a dead end. The nun was watching him and he had no choice but to kill her. -
On the Road (Rising Action)
Sophie trys to get Robert to safety but have to flee somewhere else so they won't get caught. The key that Sophie and Robert recieved had some invisible ink on it that led to an address. The address belonged to a swiss bank. The PS on the key stands for Priory of Sion which is a secret society that Jacques was the grand master of. -
Bank of Zurich (Rising Action)
After arriving at the bank, Sophie and Robert find out that Jacques had an account with something inside. The police found out that they were there, so they have to hurry and get whatever was in there. But they don't know the password. They eventually do figure out the password from the code on his dead body. -
The Cryptex (Rising Action)
After opening Jacques's vault, they found a box with a rose on it. In the box was a cryptex that Jacques made himself. Inside was said to be the keystone. They had no choice but to escape since the police were coming and the bank owner helped them. -
Leigh Teabing (Rising Action)
Leigh Teabing is someone that Robert trusts and thinks he can cooperate with him. They go to his house and tell Sophie all of the secrets that the Priory of Sion have been keeping. They also tell Sophie about what the Holy Grail actually is, which is Mary Magdelane. Mary and Jesus had been married and are now descendants of them. -
Silas Shows his Face (Rising Action)
After finding out the keystone was in Teabing's house, Silas jumps into the house and threatens them for the keystone. Teabing knocks Silas out and ties him up. The cops show up because they tracked down Robert. Sophie, Robert, Teabing, Remy (Teabing's servent), and Silas flee to London on Teabing's private jet. -
Two Cryptex's (Rising Action)
While on Teabing's private jet, they figure out the password to the cryptex. The password was Sofia's name. But Inside the cryptex was another cryptex and another clue they had to solve. Now they are headed to a church in search of a knight. -
Temple Church (Rising Action)
After escaping the London police, Robert, Sophie, Teabing, Remy, and the tied up Silas arrive at where the next clue led to. The Temple Church included Knights that were in the clue. Remy and Silas come in and demand that they give them the keystone. Robert gave them the keystone and they got away with Teabing as a hostage. "'I'll make it simple,' Remy snapped, eyeing Langdon over Teabing's shoulder. 'Set down the keystone, or I will pull the trigger'" (Brown 360). -
Researching at the Library (Rising Action)
They discover that the real Knight wasn't at the Temple Church. Robert and Sophie go to a really good library to search up places the real Knight could be. After discovering that the real Knight is Isaac Newton, they head out to his tomb. -
The Computers (Rising Action)
Collet, another French cop, is at Teabing's house and finds something really suspicious. He finds a bunch of computers that are set up to spy on people. They also find names next to it with a really familiar name. That name is Jacques. -
Remy's Death and the Teacher (Rising Action)
After surprising everyone, Remy and the Teacher drive somewhere to talk. The Teacher gives Remy cognac which kills him. The Teacher is then revealed to be Teabing! -
Newton's Tomb (Rising Action)
Silas wakes up at an Opus Dei house and accidentally shoots Bishop Aringarosa. While at the same time, Robert and Sophie find a note on Newton's tomb that tells them to go to a certain location. They go to this location and are surprised with Teabing pointing a gun at them. -
Arrested (Climax)
Teabing threatened to kill Robert and Sophie unless they handed the keystone over. What he wanted to do was reveal the secrets to the world. Robert threw the cryptex up so that Teabing would go for it and drop his gun. The cryptex broke, but Robert secretly took the paper out, the password being "APPLE". -
The Truth About Sophie (Falling Action)
Sophie and Robert go to the Roslin where the next clue leads. Sophie finds her Grandmother and brother who were supposed to have been dead. They faked their deaths so that they would be protected. They were protected because they are the descendants of Jesus and Mary. "Incredibly, both had been from Merovingian families- direct descendants of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ.Sophie's parents and ancestors, for protection, had changed their family names of Plantard and Saint-Clair"(Brown 442). -
The Holy Grail's Location (Resolution)
Figuring out where the real Holy Grail is, Robert leaves to the location. It was surrounded by many symbols and right where they started. Robert kneeled before it in the glass pyramid at the Louvre.
