    The election of 1860 sparked the chain of events the will enter the civil war. When Lincoln was elected the south left the union in beliefs that Lincoln will end slavery.

    1 year after the election of president Lincoln the Confederates attacked the fort known as Fort Sumter. The Confederates believed that Lincoln was resupplying the fort with more troops and cannons but when he was really sending food and medical supplies. After this event ignited the fuse of the civil war.

    The very first battle of the Civil War was fought in an area known as Bull Run. Bull Run was first loss for the Union in 1861. This battle also gave birth to the name Stonewall Jackson.

    A few short days after the battle of Bull Run the president has released the Emancipation proclamation. This document has allowed slaves to be free in north states and border states.

    In Tennessee general Ulysses S. Grant has won a major victory by capturing Fort Henry known as "the Hornets nest". After this victory He has earned the nickname of "Unconditional Surrender" Grant

    During the battle of Northern Virginia Robert E. Lee assumes control of the confederate army. When he does he will begin a streak of gambles that will test his luck. He was successful in everyone of his gambles.

    A few years in to the war and the Union is being humiliated by Robert E. Lee and his confederates. General after general he Union moral is fading away. But then came May 10 on that day the confederates were dealt a huge blow as Stonewall Jackson died from friendly fire.

    Gettysburg. Its is the very area that was considered to be the Turning Point in the Civil War. Without Jackson, Robert was pretty much broken since Jackson was his key player in the war. After Gettysburg the war did a full 180* degrees.

    Ever since Gettysburg the Union has been winning victory after victory in the east but in the west Grant has been on a victory streak of his own His most infamous battle was the Battle of Vicksburg. It was a 6 week siege on the stronghold. after the battle the Mississippi river was under Union control.

    In 1863 the Union decided to let blacks volunteer in an all black regiment led by Robert G. Shaw. This regiment inspired other freed slaves that they can also fight and so 180,000 more colored man volunteered.

    President Lincoln appointed Grant General of the entire Union army. In the Process Grant appoints Sherman general and to go and "scare the South" it may sound subtle but it will turn to what we know to be acts of terrorism.
