Act of Union
This act was one of the earliest attempts of uninonising Canada. The act declared Canada East and Canada East as "The Province of Canada" bringing the two provinces together. -
The Charlottetown Conference
The Charlottetown Conference marked the beginning of the Confederation of Canada. The meeting consisted of representatives from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (Newfoundland and British Columbia were not invited as they lived too far away). The topic of this meeting was to discuss a union of the Maritime regions. After the conference, representatives from other provinces of Canada argued they should be involved and persuaded the delegates to hold another conference. -
The Québec Conference
The representatives from The Charlottetown Conference held another conference that British Columbia was invited to (Newfoundland still could'nt be invited because of how far away they were). The conference lasted three weeks and topics discussed in this province included: how power and duties were to be distributed in the country (federal and provincial) and other rules regarding balance and representation in the government they were forming. -
The London Conference
After great amounts of opposition between 1864 and 1866. The delegates were able to hold another conference and fine tune the bills regarding the confederation of Canada. -
Confederation
On July 1, 2017, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunsuick and Nova Scatia formed the Dominion of Canada. This marked the offical confederation of Canada. Queen Victoria declared Ottawa the capital of this new country and the parliment was now built and operating at that time (as it was built in 1866).
