    In 1823 John Oxley was asked to find a new land to colonise.
  • Oxley finds Land

    1824 John Oxley found a land to colonise and he named it Redcliffe

  • The Colony Moves North to The Brisbane River

    One of the reasons they moved upstream to get a better water supply.
  • The Windmill of Brisbane is built

    Over 2 years (1828-1830) the Windmill of Brisbane was built by convicts and still is standing today
  • Christianity comes to Brisbane

    The German bought Christianity to Brisbane in 1838 for both Free Settlers and Aborigines
  • Free settlers are welcome to come

    In 1842 Morton Bay was opened up to free settlers where they can get away from the cold weather and crime.
  • The first Election of Queensland

    In 1843 the first election is held to determine who becomes the first prime minister of Queensland
  • The First Newspaper

    In 1846 the first newspaper of Queensland published.
  • Queensland is its own colony

    1890 Queensland and NSW are now two different colonies
