    The settling of the Jamestown settlement was the first actual english permanent settlement. The settlement was seen as a tragedy before a success as the there were only around thirty-four people alive out of around 100 by the time supplies came in
  • Writing of Mayflower compact

    Writing of Mayflower compact
    This was essentially an agreement between the pilgrims and others on board to have some sense of order. I twas proposed by William Brewster who was one of the Pilgrim leaders.

    Petition of Rights
    The Petition of Rights was more of a replica of the Magna Carta as it was just as important, but it was more towards the English only. Giving more rihts to the people of Britain.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    This is another important document specifically for the English as it made it clear who will be the next in line to the crown and also what rights are given out. It gave parliament essentialy power over the monarch. It also inspired the U.S. Bill of Rights.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    This was essentiall a plan o create a more centralized government within the thirteen colonies. It was appointed by Benjamin Franklin, however it ended up failing because the British wanted governing to be easier and simpler.

    The Stamp Act was a way of acquiring revenue through taxing the colonies. This tax was on essentailly everything paper and it strained relations witht he colonies as the colonists didn't see it as constituional or fair.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    It was a square off with the colonists and the British troops. The British troops were responding to a mob/riot and shots were fired onto the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A political and mercantile protest which focused on dumping tea into the ocean as a form of protest. The protest was in part as the British Tea company was failing and it set up a monopoly in the American tea market.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    In response to the Boston Tea Party the British parliament set out news enforcments that were designed to punish the colonists. It was set up to punish the Colonists by tax and by different governing.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    It was a get together by all the colonies except Georgia, because they were preoccupied with a Native American problem. It was designed to create ideas and way to resist the British.
  • American Revolution begins

    At Lexington and Concord the shot that was heard around the world begun the Americn Revolutionairy War. All the tension from the unexcusable taxing and unfair treatment led to violence.

    This is basically where all the colonies showed up and were like " lets unite as a nation and fight off the Brits" They also drafted the Declaration fo Independence stating that the colonies and its entirety is seperate from Britain.

    The official declarence from Britian. It showed the world that the newly formed United States was independent. It was adopted during the second Continental congress
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    Occured in Massachusetts and it was primarily caused by taxing. Unfair taxing had led to a little uprising that lasted about a year.
  • Philedalphia Convention

    Philedalphia Convention
    Creation of the United States Constitution. It was in response because the articles of Conferation weren't exactly working
  • Connecticut compromise

    Connecticut compromise
    An agreement that small and large states had. This agreement saw that there would be equal representation in congress based on population and size of state.
