    The United States of America in race to the moon with the USSR, becomes the first country to put a man on the moon. In 1961 the USSR was the first country to put a man into outer space. The U.S. saw this as a threat and knew the needed to land Apollo 11 onto the moon.

    A large turning point in the Cold War was when the Berlin Wall finally came down that stood for so long seperating East from the rest of the world. One side of the wall was a communist country, and seen as a dark place. The West was scene as better living conditons, and did not fall under communist rule.
