The events that led up to the the Cold war were from WW2 after the defeat of the fascist leader of germany, Adolf Hitler. After WW2 the the three major powers of the world were the U.S, USSR and the UK and they were trying to see what to do with liberated poland, The Nations were confrencing and came to understandings until Dwight D. Eisenhower died and truman came in, he was scared of communism spreading, anti communism spread through the U.S due to the fact that it went against american values -

Sputnik was the first man made satalite to be launched into orbit, Sputnik egnited a heated space race between the USSR and the US. -

Sputnik II was a cone shaped Rocket that contained a Dog named Laika, Laika was a female terrier mix and was the first large organism to be put into Orbit. -

Nasa was formed during the cold war to beat the russians at the space reace, it became a large competitor against the russians in those days. -

This was an assault conducted by Cuban rebels backed by US to take over cuba and overthrow communist rule in the region, but it failed. -
berlin wall constructed
the berlin wall was constructed to seperate the two opposing sides of germany, it also kept people from leaving soviet rule. it was a true manifestation of the iron curtain. -
Cuban missle crisis
Cuba was the first area to be affected by communism outside europe, Cuba was being funded by the soviets throughout that time and the USSR wanted to install missle cilo's in Cuba, the US did not want that and blockaded the russians, this was the closest to NUclear warfare the world has ever been. -
USS pueblo incident
The USS pueblo was a US navy spy ship, it was in international waters when it was caught by North Koreans, the North sent a heavily armed ship to detain the Pueblo and it's men, before capture the Seamen burnt all classified data and surrendered. -

The iran hostage crisis was an event that occured because some students who were supporting the Iranian revolution took over the U.S embassy and held hostage 52 americans for 444 days or so. -

The Soviet union once mighty began to fall due to many of it's satalite countries anexing from the Mother land, also because the president of the time ,Gorbachev, made some crazy reforms. -
