This set of documents ended the French war with the Vietminh and divided Vietnam into North and South states. The communist leader of North Vietnam was Ho Chi Minh while the US friendly south was led by Ngo Dinh Diem. -

A United States spy plane reported seeing a Russian nuclear missle base in Cuba, which led Kennedy to create a Naval Blockade and demanded removal of missiles. -

The United States and other countries boycotted the the Summer Olympics in Moscow in protest against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. -

The wall around Berlin was finally down allowing families to see each other and no longer being block off from the rest of Berlin/Germany. -

Mikhail Gorbachev resigned. The hammer and sickle flag on the Kremlin was lowered. Then on the next day, it was the end of the Soviet Union Era.
