    Soviet atomic bomb project was a secret and classified project program invented and lead by joseph stalin in world war II in the soviet union. This was one of the main factors why the cold war happened. This had another name for this time, the arm race. Everyone one wanted to have the strongest weapons then the others, this race went by so fast that everyone had enough bombs to destroy the world. Everyone lived in fear of their lives for years.

    Yalta conference

    also known as the Crimea Conference and code-named the Argonaut Conference. This was a meeting between the heads of government of the united states, soviet union, untied kingdom's, to discuss the power war of germany and europe. this foreshadowed the cold war, how, it helps the soviet union get control over eastern europe. this also led the west feeling like the USSR was bent on expanding communism. people wanted to feel safe and be free, which wasn't happening.

    this event was held at the Cecilienhof, this is the home of the crowned prince Wilhelm in potsdam germany. this was the last held meeting of world war II held by the "big Three" head states.
    This meeting was about the consequences of the war crimes, europe's economy, land boundaries and reparations.

    when the united states detonated two nuclear bombs over the japanese cities. between 39,000 and 80,000 people died. this started the arms race between countries. people started fearing for their lives everyday, and war was always on people's minds.

    Molotov plan

    this was a system created by the soviet union to provide aid to rebuild eastern europe countries that were aligned politically and economically. its former name was the "brother plan". This plan allowed them to stop relying on america and see that the soviet union had good aid and trade. its also sited that this was the beginning of the cold war.

    during the time of 1989 and 1991 the borders opened, the berlin wall fell, and everywhere in europe opened free elections. in late 1991 the soviet union fell. the cold war ended as the iron curtain was lifted. on december 3d 1989 the cold war "officially" ended, but in 1991 in really ended.

    this was an american foreign policy that was put in place to stop the soviets from expanding communism and war. it was also called out to aligned countries that were under threat of the soviet union to join the americans. this shifted the american foreign policy toward the soviets to anti-fascism. it also provided aid to those under threat from the soviets, it provided political, military and economic assistance to all democratic nations.

    also referred as the brussels pact. this was a founded treaty of the western unions between 1948 and 1954. it was terminated it 2010. this treaty created an alliance group, showing the united states to stand up and play a role in protecting western europe. the agreement was signed between Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. ll of this created a collective defence alliance.

    or the european recovery plan, was a plan that the americans signed to help aid western europe. they gave over 12 billion dollars to help aid them and rebuild them after the end of world war II.

    the soviets tried to eliminate the ability of france, great britain and the united states to travel to their sectors of berlin. these places lay within russian occupied east germany.

    Fidel Castro took part in the cuban revolution from 1953 to 1959. he was a communist revolutionary and a politician. he also governed the republic of cuba as the prime minister from 1976-2008.

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, also known as the north atlantic alliance. this is a intergovernmental alliance between 29 north american countries and europe countries. this was created to provide collective security against the soviet union.

    this was was between north korea and south korea. it began in 1950 on the 25th of june with southern korea was invaded by the north. north korea was a communist country, the us found it to be a loss when they invaded the south. they tried to stop them but their efforts failed.

    he suffered from a stroke and died in his office, Nikita Khrushchev took over after his death and georgi malenkov was premier of the soviet union. when stalin died he had left the Soviet Union in an unenviable state. this led to a temporary "thaw" of the cold war tension.

    also known as the treaty of friendship, this treaty was a collective defence treaty signed in warsaw, poland between the soviet union in the cold war. including seven other eastern bloc republics of central eastern europe. the signing of the this pact became a symbol of soviet dominance.

    the resistance war against america, or the america war was conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. the soviet were the ones supplying them with weapons, food and support. this angered the united states because the soviet were helping their enemy.

    this was a revolutions against the hungarian people's republic and its soviets imposed policies. this was an uprising, people demanded for a democratic political system and freedom from the soviets. but in 1956 on the 4 of november the soviets rolled in with tanks to crush the national uprising.

    this was a failed invasion done by the US. they were trying to reverse the Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution, they began with military invasion of northern cuba. this invasion was financed and directed by the U.S. government

    it was commenced by the german democratic republic. this wall cut off west berlin from the surrounding east germany. this wall prevented almost all emigration.

    this was a 13 day confrontation between the united states and the soviet union. this was also known as the october crisis. this began because the soviet union was building missiles in cuba, this was one of the most important confrontations of the cold war. american ship blocked the waters from the soviets delivering their missiles to cuba.

    this treaty was put into place to stop the production of nuclear weapons. also known as the non-proliferation. the five permanent members of the treaty is chin, the united states, france the soviet union and the united kingdom. this put an end to most people fearing for their lives about nuclear war.

    officially known as Operation Danube, when the warsaw pact invaded Czechoslovakia. 5 countries of warsaw invaded Czechoslovakia, the soviet union, poland, bulgaria, east germany and hungary. then in 1989 there was a very peaceful revolution called the gentle revolution where Czechoslovakia had a non-violent transition of power.

    this war lasted over 9 years. the soviet union invaded afghanistan. they had there president Amin put to death. over the years the soviet union battled with the Mujahideen. they were fighting for their homeland and religion. in the end the soviets failed and lost the war.

    the communist government of poland signed an agreement that allowed for its existence. the government tried to destroy the union, they failed and ended up having to start negotiating with the union.

    known as NORAD or North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as the North American Air Defense Command. this is a system that provides aerospace warning and air sovereignty. this is helps protect north america from on coming missiles and warns the people of north america by satellite.

    Berlin Wall falling

    the wall was destroyed by demolition. the falling of the berlin wall mark the end of the cold war, it divided families and believes, people lost their jobs too because of this wall. the wall represented a lack of freedom under communism. one side was communist and the other wester democratic. months after the falling of the wall Gorbachev resigned, dissolving the soviet union once and for all from the cold war.
