    The war started when the North Koreans crossed the 38th parallel. It ended in a cease-fire armistice in 1953. The war cost the U.S. $67 billion.

    This was the American's first test of a Hydrogen Bomb. The H-Bomb is thousands of times more powerful than the Atom Bomb. This scared the Soviets into testing one of their own in 1953.

    The Soviets felt threatened about the formation of NATO. As a result, the Soviet Union created the Warsaw Pact. The pact included the Soviet Union, East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania
