    Yalta Conference
    The Partitioning of Germany, Fate of Poland, The United Nations, and German reparation were all topics discussed in a meeting between Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalion. This was an important meeting vecause it would decide what would happen at the ending of the war.
  • Postdam Conference

    Postdam Conference
    Held near Berlin the conference was the last meeting of WWII. This event came to the conclusion of Germany's economy, punishment for war crimes, and land boundaries and reparations. This was when Korea whas divided into American and Soviet zones. Although, this conference failed to settle the most important issues.
  • Hiroshima

    Hiroshima
    This was the day when the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Japanese territory. This was an important event because it immediately wiped out thousands of people, which pushed Japan to surrender.
  • Truman Doctrine

    Truman Doctrine
    the Truman Doctrine was when President Truman promised tp help any country deal with communist takeovers. This was an important event because it was a major step into the Cold War
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    By having Berlin devided into two sections and the US helping East Berling without the Soviets wanting their help created conflict. The US airlifted food and supplies to East Berling against the Soviet's wishes considering they were the United States of America prime enemy.

    The Hungarian Revolution was important because it was the first uprising by the Hungarian citizens. The citizens were unpleased with the Soviet forces which lead to this revolution. This event is important fo the US because people believed that the US should of intervened and helped the Hungarians obtain freedom.

    Sparkling the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs invasion was when Cuban exiles were trained by US forces and sent back to Cuba to begin a revolt against Fidel Castro. The plan backfired and this worsened the relationship with Cuba and Russia.

    Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall was an important event becaused it showed how people were no content living in East Germany. The wall divided East Germany from West Germany and it prevented the flow of skilled manpower.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    After the Bay of Pigs Invasion greatly failed, JFK threatened Cuba to remove the missles or he would invade them. Russia, who had placed the missles less than 100 miles away facing US territory, took it's missles and went home.

    The assassination brought anxiety to the citizens. Kennedy gave everyone hope and and the prospects of a new generation. It represented the end of innocent times for the US.

    The US being worried about it's neighboring countries becoming communist, took a stand in South Vietnam when North Vietnam tried to take over.

    The Chernobly Disaster changed what people thought of nuclear power. People were always aware of possible risk but it wasn't til them that they realized the great damage that the neuclear power could do.

    The falling of the Berling Wall ended the Cold War. The wall took away the little hopes of freedom that the Germans could seek for. When the wall came down, that hope came back and West Berlin quickly became one of the best European cities.

    The Velvet Revolution was very significant because it made a change without imvolving violence like in previous events.

    With the Berlin Wall falling and the Soviet republics declaring independance, the Cold War was over after fourty-five years.
