There is not an exact date as to when the Cold War began but it started right after World War ll ended. In the month of Februry it was like the genesis of the Cold War. -

The Marshall Plan
In this month the Marshall Plan was announced, this was used for countries to fight poverty, malnutrition, and disease. The United States gave $13 billion dollars for economic support. -

The Berlin Blockade Begins
The Berlin Blockade was one of the first major events that ccured in the Cold War. The Soviet Union blocked off the west railways, roads, and canal access which allowed them access to Berlin. So they tried to deliver suppplies by aircraft. -

After eleven months the Berlin Blockade comes to an end as it was broken by a large British-U.S aircraft that was delivering supplies to Western Berlin. -
Korean War Begins
The Korean War began as the communists of North Korea collided with South Korea. North Korea passed the 38th parallel into South Korea ready to to attack. -
Korean War Ends
The Korean War ended as both North and South Korea agree to a signing of the armistice. They both remained in the same territory they had before the war started. -
United States U2 Spy Incident
The United States U2 spy plane was shot down by the USSR and their pilot was captured. This spy plane was used for fly missions that flew right over the Soviet Union. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cubans wrote a letter to Kennedy stating that they would remove their missiles only if they promised not to invade Cuba. The USSR then stated they would bring down their missiles from Cuba if the U.S removed their missiles from Turkey. They were both done. -
President Nixon Extends Vietnam War
President Nixon extended the Vietnam war to Cambodia. When he announced this it set off anti-war, he stated that the South Vietnam troops would fight the war for the U.S against Cambodia so that the U.S troops would return home. -
South Vietnam Falls to Communist Forces
The North Vietnamese kept attacking the South until they no longer had anything else to do so they surrendered as the North and to the communists, the fall of Saigon is also what it is referred to. The South manuevered untilt hey had complete takeover. -

The Soviet Red Amry intervened with their conflict between Afghan communist governmant and the anticommunist Muslim guerrillas during the Afghan War. -

The Cold War came to an end as Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union brought a different change as the reunification of Germany and there came an end to the Soviet Union.Boris Yeltsin becomes President of Russia.
