Battle of Fort Sumpter
This battle was the first battle in the Civil War. It took place in South Carolina April 12-14, 1861. Beauregard, in command of the confederency troops ordered Jackson, in command of the Union troops, to surrender, but Jackson refused. The confederency then opened fire upon Fort Sumpter and Jackson surrended. -
1st Bull Run Manassas
It was a confederency victory. The battle took place in Virginia. The commander of the Northern army were Irvin McDowell. The southern commander where Pierre Beaunegard.The battle led to a army reorginzation. -
Battle of Shiloh
The battle was fought in Tennessee, and it was a Union victory. Ulysses S. Grant's army lost about 13,000 men. Albert S. Johnston army lost about 11,000 men. -

The battle took place in Virgina. The Confederency leader, Robert E. Lee, were outnumberd 2:1 by the union leader, Ambrose Burnside, but Lee won anyway. Burnside were released of command after his failure. -
Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves in Confederency territory. Althought it freed very few slaves, it had a big impact on the public. Some northern people, such as the Democrats thought the Proclamation would just anger the south and make the war longer. -

The battle took place in Virginia May 2-4 1863. The battle were won by Robert E. Lee, a Confederncy leader. The Union leader were Joseph Hooker. Jackson death were a outcome of the battle. -
Siege of Vicksburg
The battle were fought in Mississippi. From May 18-July 4, 1863. The Union leader were Ulysses S. Grant while the Confederency leader were Pemberton. This battle was important for the Union because it split the confederency in half. -
Battle of Gettyssburg
The battle took place July 1-3, 1863 Penselvenia .The Union won the battle but with great losses. The Union whos leader were George Meade, lost 23,000 men. The Confederency whos leader were Robert E. Lee, lost 28,000 men. -
Siege of Atlanta
The batlle were fought in Georgia from June 16-Sept 12 1864.
Ulysses S. Grant won another battle for the Union. He fought against Hood who were the Confederency leader. The North lost about 8,000 men, but they captured "The Heart of the South". -
Ratificatin of the 13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment banned slavery in America, but the Amendment were ratified by all states by the end of 1865. -
Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse
This was the one last battle of the Civil War. The battle was fought in Virginia near Richmond.The confederency leader Robert E. Lee surrended to Ulysses S. Grant. This battle marked the end of the war. -
Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln were killed while watching a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C., Maryland. John Wilkes Booth got into the balcony where Lincoln sat and shot him in the head. The Union army captured Booth and killed him some days later. Lincoln's death were a huge loss for the North.
