First issue of the Liberator
The Libiator was a weekly anti-slavery newspapper. It was published by William Lloyd Garrison. In the first issue he wrote "I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice.... I will not retreat a single inch- AND I WILL BE HEARD." -
Comprimise of 1850 passed
Proposed by Henry Clay a senator from Kentucky. California was added as a free state. Slavery would be illegal in Washington D.C.
