    The Black death was a plague that spread through Europe during October in the year 1347. It had arrived to Europe by sea, by the staff and sailors on several large trading ships. When the Men were found they were barley alive, having fevers and being covered in black boils, thus giving the plague the name 'Black Death". The Black Death would spread throughout all of Europe for over 5 years killing up to 20million people.

During this many historical figures such as Martin Luther would fight against the ways the Catholic power had setup the catholic community at the time and would fight for a change to stop the corruption of the Catholic Church.

    Martin Luther's publication of 95 Thesis
    Martin Luther, a very significant figure in Western history was born in 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. Martin Luther had originally started off as a monk and scholar until 1517 When he had penned a document against the Catholic Churches of selling Indulges to repay for sin. Martin Luther's "95 Thesis" had stated that people would not need to pay to be forgiven for their sins as it was dependent on their faith. His writings and teachings had changed Western Religious history.

    The Council of Trent was convoked by Pope III, the Pope at the time. The Council was the major factor within the Counter Reformation and the outcome of it. It was called to Recreate and Reform although is still not decided as choosing the correct decisions.

    The First Vatican Council was called by Pope Pius IX. The Council was convoked to deal with and solve contemporary issues within the Roman Catholic Church. The issues the Council mainly focused on was the large rising of Rationalism, Liberalism and materialism throughout the Roman Catholic community.

    The Second Vatican Council was called by Pope John XXIII after being elected. During the 20th Century faith was not a very relevant topic and Pope John's plan was to change that. He had called for an Aggiornamento, and doing so he also intended for the council to lead a new way for the christian community.
