The Stamp Act
Items and documents like marriage licenses, playing cards, and newspapers, were required tax stamps. Prime minister, George Grenville intended for the direct tax to be for the colonies to pay defense. -
Sons and Daughters of Liberty
In an attempt to fight back, colonists tried to impose non-important agreements. The Sons of Liberty took the law into their own hands. By using methods such as tar and feathering the agreements were enforced. -
Quartering Act

Disguised as Indians, Boston colonists dumped tea into the harbor from three ships. -
First Continental Congress
-Twelve of the thirteen colonies met in Philadelphia in September 1774. They created an Association calling for a boycot of British goods. -
Second Continental Congress
All thirteen colonies were represented at the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia, hoping that the colonists grivances would be aknowleged by King George III. At this event, George Washington was named Head of the Continental.
