The Roman leader, Constantine moves and finds the new capital of the Roman Empire on the ancient site of the city Byzantium. He changes the name to Constantinople. -

After Emperor Theodosius dies, The Byzantine permanently divides in half. It had Eastern and western kingdoms. The Eastern Roman Empire was based on Constantinople and the Western Roman Empire was based on Rome. Theodosius was the last emperor to rule over both the eastern and the western halves in the Roman Empire. -

The western Empire falls. The Roman Empire gets destroyed and the Eastern Empire survives and now gets labeled as the Byzantine Empire. -

Justinian gets crowned as Emperor in 527 and he ruled until his death in 565. He was the first great ruler of the Byzantine Empire. He showed a lot of energy and accomplished a lot. He quickly expanded the Empire. -

When the Emperor Basil II died he passed his kingdom a long. The next ruled didn’t do well and things began to fall apart. -

Alexios becomes the new Emperor. He takes his people into the crusades in Jerusalem. -

During the fourth crusade the capital city of Constantinople gets captured along with several other cities. -

The end of the Byzantine Empire
The Ottomans attacked the city eventually gaining control of the city after two months of battle. The Byzantine Empire has finally fallen and Islam has spread further into the city. The city was now in Muslim control.
