The Stamp Act
To tax the colonists the Stamp Act was passed. It stated anything produced/made with paper must have a stamp or else the colonist would be taxed. Upon hearing the news the colonist rebelled and fought against the new act. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was the first way/act for the British to tax the colonists. Britain decided to pass this new act because the Stamp Act failed. Anything that was produced with sugar outside of the colonies would be taxed(because the Colonists smuggled in good). -

The British Acts were a way for the British to tax the Colonies, so the Britain could get out of debt from the war. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act stated that all of the soldier's paychecks are now being quartered. All of the money is coming from the colonists and the colonists now only earn 75% of their paycheck and the other 25% goes to the soldiers. Also the solders would be allowed to enter the colonist houses, use whatever supplies and eat the colonists' food(live with the colonists). -
The Townshend Act
This act was passed to stop the colonists from smuggling imported goods into the colonies. This act declared, any British officer could go into any colonial home searching for any smuggled imported goods. If any colonist was caught with smuggled goods in their homes would be taxed on imported goods from England (ex. glass, tea, paint). -
The Tea Act
Parliament wanted to help the East India company out of bankruptcy so the Tea Act was passed. The act stated, any colonist that purchased, imported or bought tea from British tea plantations would be taxed. The colonist would also be taxed if they bought tea from a British plantation even if it was in the colonies. -
Coercive/intolerable Acts: Boston Port Act
Lord Oliver, the Prime Minister of Britain, wanted to punish Massachusetts by passing the intolerable Act. The act declared any one from the colonies would not be able to come in contact/use the Boston Harbor. By doing so the colonists couldn't trade or go back to Britain. -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Justice Act
The act was passed so Britatin could gain control over the 13 Colonies. By doing so no one in the 13 Colonies could run their own government. If a colonist was caught trying to run their own government they woyld be sued or even murdered. -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts: Quebec Act
The Quebec Act was passed to where Britain gained more land over North America. It stated that Britain was now part of the permanent government in Canada letting the citizens have their own religious faiths. This was the beginning of Britain's gain for land.
