    Plague breaks out in north eastern China, killing 5 million people in that year.

  • 1339

    Nestorian Christian community in Central Asia wiped out.

  • 1346

    Plague reaches Crimea. Genoan merchants return to Sicily spreading the disease.

  • 1347

    Plague spreads rapidly to Cyprus and then into modern day Italy, reaching Venice as well as Alexandria in Egypt.

  • 1348

    Plague reaches Paris, Marseilles and then England. Moves along the Rhine River into modern day Belgium, Netherlands & Luxembourg. Outbreaks occur in Cairo and Gaza leading to serious persecution of the Jews.

  • 1349

    Widespread persecution of Jews, with thousands burned to death. Plague reaches Aswan in Egypt and the entire Islamic world is now affected.

  • 1350

    Plague has largely run its course in the Mediterranean basin.

  • 1351

    Plague reaches Russia.

  • 1357

    35 million deaths from the plague are recorded since 1333.
