King William makes the Domesday Book
King William had completed a census,or a survey, which had every field, castle, and pigpen listed in England. The book helped William and future monarchs make a system of tax collection. -

Concordat of Worms
On September 22, Henry V and Pope Calixtus II signed a treaty which stated that the Church had the power to elect and bishops with spiritual authority, This treaty was made because a conflict over investiture that lasted for over 50 years. -

Common Law
When Henry II became king, he expanded customs into laws, which were forwarded with traveling justices so they can become royal laws. This became the foundation of common law, a system with decisions made by the royal court. -

King John Signs the Magna Carta
King John was forced to sign the Magna Carta (great charter) and it did 2 important things. 1) forced monarchs to obey the laws and 2) gave nobles rights, that were later extended to all free-men. -

King Edward I Expands Parliament
Clergies, aristocrats, and representatives from different countries came together to expand the Parliament of England. This Parliament became a model parliament for other parliaments to come in the future,which is why is it is called the "Model Parliament"
