on the 31st of july the battle of Passchendaele began. The weather conditions of this battle were very harsh. -

Heavy rainfall (date not exact)
Within a few days of the battle, the heaviest rainfall in 30 years occured turning the soil into quagmire. The quagmire made the mud very thick and this mud broke many rifles by clogging them and it also immbobilised tanks. At a furture date the mud became so deep that men and horses drowned in it. The battle stopped due to this -
The attack started again
this attack had a little effect due to the bad weather. They stopped quickly for another month until the wether improved. it started again on the 20th of september 1917. -
Other attacks (throughout october)
Other attacks throughout the month of october were not succesful in making much progress. -
End of the battle
Eventually the British and canadian forces captured the little that remained of passchendaele village.
