Colts Leaving Baltimore
The Baltimore Colts left Baltimore to relocate to Indianapolis leaving Baltimore on a football team. Baltimore was left without a football team and lost revenue from their team and then had no team to market. -
Relocating to Baltimore
In 1995 at Camden Yards Art Modell announced that he would be moving the Browns to Baltimore. He had to leave the browns name and uniform in Cleveland though.Cleveland was left without a team to market and Baltimore was gaining their franchise. -
Choosing a Name
In 1996 a contest was held to determine the name of the team and the name “the Ravens” was chosen based off Edgar Allens Poe Poem “the Raven” . Poe was from Baltimore Maryland.The team now had a name and identity to market and people could support them. -
1996 NFL Draft
In the first round of the 1996 NFL draft the ravens selected two future hall of famers, Jonothan Ogden and Ray Lewis.In the years to come Ray And Jonathan would be become the face of the team promoting the ravens. -
Ray Lewis Scandal
At a superbowl party in Atlanta, GA. Ray lewis and his companions got into an altercation with a group of guys resulting in 2 men being stabbed. Lewis went to trial along with 2 of his companions and eventually pleaded guilty to misleading police resulting in a $250,000 fine and 12- months probation. This brought negative attention to the Ravens stereotyping them all as a bunch of criminals which would continue on for years. -
Superbowl XXXV
In the 2000-2001 season the Baltimore Ravens were led to a Superbowl by second year head coach Brian Billick with Superbowl MVP Ray Lewis. For such a new team winning a Superbowl so fast put them on the map quick promoting the team and the city. -
M&T Bank Stadium
In recent years M&T bank moved into the Baltimore market purchasing other smaller banks and beat out carmax and Nextel for naming rights on the stadium.M&T bank was the official name on the stadium which promotes itself throughout Baltimore and the rest of the country. -
Harbaugh, Flacco, And Rice
In 2008 the Ravens would hire head coach John Harbaugh, draft quartberack Joe Flacco, who would all be stars and lead the Baltimore offense. Coach Harbaugh would lead the ravens to 5 consecutive winning seasons.The arrival of Harbugh, Flacco, and Rice would promote the Ravens like never before with their successful play and leadership. -
Superbowl XLVII
In the 2012-13 season the ravens finished 10-6 and beat the Colts, Broncos, the Patriots and in the superbowl the 49ers to win the superbowl.After winning the superbowl many items describing their win were sold and the city of Baltimore was highlighted in winning the superbowl. -
Ray Rice
Ray Rice got into an altercation with his then fiancée in Atlantic city and was arrested. A later video released showed him dragging his wife out of an elevator and received a 2 game suspension from the NFL. Rice received very negative attention from the incident and so did the ravens as an organization.
