    1389: Serb nobility decimated by Turkish Sultans in Battle of Kosovo Polje as the Ottoman Empire expands. The defeat marks the beginning of the end of Serbia’s Medieval Empire.

    Beginning of Serb national struggle against the Turks.

    Serbian Uprising secures limited autonomy from the Ottoman Empire.

  • 1876 - 1878

    1876 - Serbian Turkish wars.
    1878: Serbian independence recognised by international treaties.

    Most people have moved out from their homes between this time which caused the population to exchange, where Serbia is now twice as it was before where also the population increased by 1.5 million where it was only 2.9 million before and 4.4 million after.
