The Founding Of The Aztecs
In 1345 CE the Aztecs were founded. Tenochtitlan on Lake Texcoco was named the capital of the Aztecs. Tenochtitlan on Lake Texcoco is in central Mexico. -

The First Ruler
In 1375 the first ruler is in power. They call him Tlatoani which means speaker. His real name was Acamapichtli. -
Jan 1, 1427
The Aztec Empire
In 1427 Itzcoatl is the fourth ruler. He also founds the Aztec empire. He was born on 1381. -
Period: Jan 1, 1440 to Jan 1, 1469
The Fifth Ruler
In 1440 to 1469 the fifth ruler is named Montezuma. He could also be known as Motecuhzoma Ilhuicamina, Huehue Motecuhzoma. He greatly expanded the empire. -
Jan 1, 1448
The Allience
In 1448 a triple alliance is formed. It includes the Aztecs, Texcocans, and the Tacubans. The Aztecs defeat the Tepanecs. -
Jan 1, 1487
The Sacrafices
In 1487 the great pyramid of Tenochtitlan is finished. Thousands of people die as a sacrifice to the gods. 80,400 prisoners were sacrificed and it took four days. -
Jan 1, 1517
The Comet
In 1517 a comet was marked. Aztec priests say the comet was a sign of doom. This event is a bad portent in Aztec culture. -
Jan 1, 1521
The End Of The Aztecs
In 1521 most of the Aztec died from hunger and smallpox. After the long siege, Spain took over Tenochtitlan. Spain also killed most of the remaining Aztecs besides the ones who escaped. -
Jan 1, 1522
The Rebuild
In 1522 the Spanish rebuild Tenochtitlan. The Spanish will later call it the capital of new Mexico. The capital of the Aztecs will become the capital of the Spanish.
