This building was very important, because it was the Emperor's. Not only was it this, but it was also the highest temple in Tenochtitlan. No one else could have a larger temple simply because they belived the Gods lived in the clouds, and the Empeor deserved to be the closest. -

Temple Mayor
This was the most important temple of the Aztecs. It was the main sacrificial temple. It's height was 197ft tall, and is known for being a doule temple. There are two shrine that sit at the top, that are dedicated to the two gods, Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc. They did this because the two gods (Sun and War; Rain and Fertility) needed constant sacrifices. -

Moctezuma was Ahuitzol's sucesser after his assasination by the Nobles.
Moctezuma will forever be one of the most known Emperor of the Aztecs as he was the one in power when the Spanish came. He is a very important person in Spanish and Aztec history. -
