The 3 tribes that ruled the cities in the Aztec area came together and made an alliance. These cities were the foundation of empire. -

Montezuma II
From 1440 to 1520 the empire experienced a golden age where the cities flourished. During this period a king named Montezuma II ruled, he is the most famous out of all the Aztec kings because of his confrontation with Spanish Conquistador Hernán Cortés in attempts to keep him from taking power. -

Captivity
When the Cubans heard Hernán Cortés took over the city they sent forces to take command. When Cortés came back from fighting them he found Montezuma II died from captivity. He panicked and tried to flee Tenochtitlan, in the process many of them died. -

In The Dark
After Cortés left The Aztecs thought it was over so they named Cuauhtemoc's cousin, Cuauhtemoc, king. While they were celebrating Cortés was gathering an army to lay siege on Tenochtitlan. -

The Final Attack
The Spanish and the Tlaxcala were brought together with the common goal of defeating the Aztecs, with this in mind they destroyed Tenochtitlan and killed Cuauhtémoc. With the city beyond salvation Cortés rebuild the whole city and named it Mexico city, capital of New Spain.
