  • Playstation 2 Released

    Released with the idea that all games should be 3D. It was the first to have mass internet connectivity, and feature a DVD player interface. Making gaming consoles more of a house hold item not just for kids.To this day is still the number one sold video game console with 155 million unit sold.

  • Original Xbox Released

    Microsoft's first entrance into the video game market. Bill Gates personally sold the very first one to a customer at an event at the Toys R Us in Time Square. This was the start of what is now called the "console wars" between Sony and Microsoft.

  • Xbox Live released

    This was the first paid subscription service for video games. It also allowed users to directly download content to their Xbox instead of having to purchase a disk.

  • Xbox 360 released

    This is what solidified Microsoft in the video game world driving PlayStation out of the top spot.

  • Xbox Kinect released

    Kinect was a camera peripheral that tracked the users movements and gestures to "use your body as a controller." This was the first mass market introduction of what we now know as AR or Augmented Reality gaming. It was a massive failure for Microsoft.
