Dr.Kolff and Dr.Tetsuzo Akutsu decided to test the artificial hearts on animals. One dog lived for about 90 minutes. -
The Division of Artificial Organs
Dr.Kolff goes to the University of Utah and starts the Division of Artificial Organs. He went with Clifford Kwan-Gett and Thomas Kessler(An engineer) who helped with the Artificial Heart design. -
1st Implant

Dr.Denton Clooney was the first artificial heart surgeon. The patient lives for 64 hours but dies 32 hours later. -
Total Heart
The Total Artificial Heart was implanted into Dr.Barney Clark who survived for 112 days. -
2nd Recipient
Schroeder was the second patient to recieve an artificial heart. He survived the longest with an artificial heart. -
