    Augustine of Canterbury
    Augustine was a Roman missionary who traveled to the Kingdom of Kent. From there, the spread of Christianity flowered and by 690 almost all of Britain was Christian.

    This book was by the one of the greatest monks known as Venerable Bede. Because of this, this book is one of the most oldest known Old English booked recorded. Some believe it was made between the years 673-735.

    Vikings
    Vikings were more of scavengers, taking anything they could find. They would raid villages for food and gold and if anyone got in their way, death. They are know as "Danes" since vikings are from Norway and Denmark. They began to spread into Europe for the warmer winters. Because of this, vikings were able to obtain control of east and north Europe.

    Best known as the Anglo-Saxon King. Alfred was against vikings and thought they were savage people who did not belong in Europe.     Alfred's son, Edward, claimed the throne after Alfred's passing. Edward was a very religious man. He had no children so he gave his cousin who is french the title of Duke of Normandy.

    Crowned King of England when Harold, previous king, was killed in the Battle of Hastings. At first, when Edward the Confessor ruled he made William The Duke of Normandy while Edward was ruling. William more claimed this title than being awarded with it.
