  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana purchase was when Thomas Jefferson purchased the Louisiana territory from France. In 1803, Thomas offered money to purchase New Orleans from France but, Napolean (France's leader) gave him a offer Thomas never would of said, the entire territory, which Thomas Jefferson agreed on to purchase. The Louisianna purchase converted the size of the United States which doubled and started many situations, The Trail of Tears, The Gold Rush, and gave the United States more power.
  • The Compromise of 1850

    The Compromise of 1850
    By 1948, since The United States were in war with Mexico and they were claiming land from it, they had a conflict of whether to keep slavery or abolish it in that state. The two major territories that were drastic to the compromise was Kansas and California because the North and South did not know who had it. What the compromise did was it made laws that would take in effect unless the bill was vetoed, and it decided if the territories conquered by Mexico would be anti-slavery or proslavery.
  • The Fugitive Slave Act

    The Fugitive Slave Act
    When the Compromise commenced, it contain this bill that heightened the crisis of slavery, which is named The Fugitive Slave Act. The act has given the slaves a multiple amounts of unfairness to the race themselves. It gave slaves no right to a jury trail but, it was replacd with a comisson to do the case. Also, it made it so that the south can capture any slaves in the north and the south. Even free slaves can be captured and put back to slavery.Most in the North defied it for hating the act.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas
    When the territory of Kansas was claimed after the war of Mexico, it needed represenitives to take the territory to good hands, they had to elect represenitives to either have slavery or not. The South illegally voted and then the government became an asset for the south. The North in Kansas was enraged in this so it started of with massacres then started a civil war in the territory as known as "Bleeding Kansas". This civil war was primary the cause to start a war between them.
  • Harper's Ferry

    Harper's Ferry
    On this day of October 16th in Harpers Ferry, Virginia, had begun what is known as the John Brown's Raid. three years back, John murdered proslavery Kansans but now he wanted provoke the slave uprising even more. In order to do this, he figured out how to get into the Arsenals to arm slaves to defend themselves. In this deed, the slaves did not want the guns and eventually, he was caught. His result was in being hanged but the North gave him a respected memorial which grew the civil tensions.
