The Boston Massacre
A group of colonist hurled snowballs and rocks at British soldiers guarding the Customs House. The soldiers fired into the crowd, killing five colonists. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was created to save the East India Tea Company. Although it lowered the price of tea, it
gave the company a monopoly and threatened the business of colonial importers. -
Boston Tea Party
Boston Patriots dressed as Indians, boarded three British ships laden with tea and Dumped the tea into the harbor. -
The Intolerable Acts put in motion
The Intolerable Act officially called the Coercive Acts, these laws were meant to force Massachusetts pay for the tea destroyed in the Boston Tea Party. The laws closed Boston Harbor and forced colonists to house British soldiers in their homes. Colonists weren't happy about this motion. -
First Continental Congress Meets
The Congress agrees to boycott British goods. The king calls them rebels. -
Olivie Branch Sent
Congress sends an “Olive Branch” to King George III. He rejected the petition and sent more troops to Boston. Olive Branch is the last resort to avoid an all out war between the colonies and Britain. -
Virginia House of Burgesses (Henry's Speech)
Patrick Henry, gives his most famous speech, in the Virginia House of Burgesses. “Give me Liberty or give me Death”. HE gave the speech in efforts to take action against British rule. -
Lexington and Concord
The battles at Lexington and Concord occurred. The first American Revolution. Tons of bloodshed and men of every age was drafted tov serve against the British. -
Second Continential Congress meets
Second Continental Congress meets. Congress names George Washington commander of Continental Army. Washington expresses his concerns about leading in the battles to come. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
First major fighting battle. This battle shows the British we could fight in battle. -
Common Sense
Thomas Paine publishes Common Sense. Written pamphlet that claimed the colonies had a right to be an independent nation. -
Declaration of Independence approved
Being drafted by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration of Independence was approved. Making July fourth to be celebrated as The day to be known as being separated from British Ruling. -

The patriots win the battle in Saratoga. A turning point for the war. Colonies got a navy from the French after making an alliance. -

General Clinton captures 3000 Patriot soldiers as he takes Charlestown, South Carolina. -
Cornwallis is caught.
General Cornwallis surrenders at Yorktown. He is known to be the biggest traitor to the colonies. -
Treaty of Paris
Treaty of Paris is signed ending the war.
