  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act of 1765 was a tax represented by a stamp put on the American colonies by the British. It taxed newspapers, play cards, dice, etc. The colonists did not like this, so they reacted in protest. They argued that there should be “No Taxation without Representation.” Colonists would boycott British goods, refused to pay the tax, riots, and more. This began to hurt British businesses. The Parliament repealed the act in 1766. The British didn’t stop with other taxes. Which led to war.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    In 1770, British soldiers were trying to quiet down a group of angry Americans. The argument was small at first, then grew quickly as more colonists shouted and threw stuff at British soldiers. As the crowd grew, one of the British soldiers was hit, and as he was knocked down he fired. More shots were fired. 5 out of the 400 colonists died.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the British government. Americans would dump 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor as a way of protest, because the British put tax on tea. The Boston Tea Party took place in Boston, Massachusetts, 1773.

    The Quartering Act was an act that required American colonies to provide shelter, food, drinks, transportation, etc for British troops.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence announced the independence of the United States from Britain. July 4th, 1776, the continental congress approved the document. The document said that the 13 colonies would be free and independent for Britain. Till this day, we still celebrate on July 4th.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown, from September 28 to October 19, 1781, ended the fighting in the American Revolution. During the battle, the French and Americans had trapped the British army, on land and sea. Knowing that the Americans would win, the British surrendered, ending the battle.

    The Treaty of Paris was what officially ended the American Revolution. It brought peace upon the United States and Britain. The Treaty of Paris also gave Americans independence. It’s called the Treaty of Paris because it was signed in Paris, France on September 3rd, 1783.

    The Constitution defines the law of the US government. It is broken down in three branches a legislative, an executive, and a judicial branch. It was created to protect citizens and the country. The Constitution gives every American protection of life, liberty, and property. It was written by James Madison.
