The american colonies were having a protest against taxiation. On the night of December 16, 1773 Samuel Adams and the Sons Of Liberty boarded 3 ships in the boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overbaord. The reaction of this caused the British to even tax more and also pushed the two sides closer to war.
