Compulsory Attendance Act
In 1852, Massachusetts passed the Compulsory Attendance Act, which required all children between the ages of eight and fourteen to attend school for at least three months in the year. Morrill Act
Created by Justin Morrill of Vermont, the Morrill Act was a land grant act signed by President Lincoln in 1862 to better education. Vassar College was founded
