Puritains Fleeing for Religous Freedom
From 1629-1640, Puritains fled England and came to America to avoid religous persecution, and fulfill the American Dream. When they got to America, teh Puritains set up many settlements, that became large and successful. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was signed saying that The United States of America is declaring freedom from England, so that Americans can achieve the American Dream, and not be stuck under England's rule. It says we need some unalienable rights, which include life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. -
Manifest Destiny
1820-1860 American belief that the United States was destined to expand across the continent. During this time American's picked up their stuff, family, and little money they had, and moved across the continent to the West Coast. -
Industrialization
1820-1870 Americans, including women, are getting jobs at factories, and making money to support their family, and to achieve the American Dream. But the AMerican Dream wasn't always about getting rich quick, it used to be about people's effort on thrift and hard work, which is what Industrialization provided, a place of work with long hours and lots of work to do. -
Civil War
1861-1895 Every American who fought in that war, was fighting to achieve the American Dream. Although the South's fight for their dream lost, it was still a long and bloody battle that was fought for what eachside believed the dream should be. -
13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment gave African Americans freedom from slavery, and the chance to acieve the american dream. -
14th Amendment
This Amendment gave African Americans Citizenship, which was one step closer for them to achieve the full American Dream -
15th Amendment
This amendment gave the African Americans the right to vote, which meant making decsions in government, which brought them yet another step closer to achieving the dream -
World War I
1914-1918 Winning this war helped achieve the American Dream, because if we had lost the American DReam, we would have lost alliances and lots of money. -
Roaring 20's
1920-1929 The roaring 20's was a time of wealth and prosperity. This meant that more people than ever were achieving the American Dream. -
19th Amendment
This Amendment meant the women could now achieve the American dream, because they now had a say in government. -
World War II
1939-1945 This helped people achieve the American Dream, because they were helping their country fight for what is right and keep people from being brutally killed and slaughtered. -
Barack Obama Inauguration
In 2009 Obama being inaugurated. During this event, the amercian dream was achieved by Barack Obama, and to every African American in the United States, it showed them that they could do anything they wanted. -
