Ethiopians defeat the invading Italians at the Battle of Adwa
The Emporer of Ethiopia, Menelik II, defeated the Italians by gathering weapons from France and Russia. He went to war because he saw a difference in the treaty that the Ethiopians and Italians were making. In the Italian version, it said the Italians could take most of the land, where as in the Ethiopian language, Menelik II thought he was only giving up a small piece of land. -

The Spanish-American War was Cuba fighting Spain. The Americans assisted Cuba, and they defeated the Spanish in 4 months. -

The Boer War was when the British tried to take over the Dutch Settlers. They fought back, and South Africans assisted, but the British won. -
