Huck's Escape and "Murder"
Huck finally decides that he can no longer take his tyrannical father, and figures out a plan to make it look as if he was murdered, but escape instead. He kills a pig and spreads it's blood everywhere, then puts an ax in the cabin door. He then takes off by canoe on the river, headed for Jackson's Island. -
Huck Finds Jim on Jackson's Island
While exploring on Jackson's Island, Huck discovers Jim, who has escaped from Miss Watson because he overheard her saying she was planning on selling him to a slave trader in New Orleans, which would separate him from his family. -
Huck Meets Mrs. Judith Loftus
While pretending to be a girl, Huck wonders around trying to find someone who can give him some information. He finds a nice lady who figures out that he is really a boy right away, but she plays him and makes him sweat before she lets on that she is aware of his impersonation tactics. Huck quickly thinks up another tale, and says he is a runaway apprentice, and his real name is George Peters. She tells him to send for her--Mrs. Judith Loftus--if he ever gets himself into any kind of trouble. -
The Duke and The Dauphin
Huck and Jim run into two men who claim to be Eurpoean royalty. Quite obvious to Huck, they are simply con men looking for an easy ride, however it is not so obvious to innocent old Jim. In the picture, the dauphin displays his fake handbill regarding Jim's capture, which will allow them to travel by day. -
Huck and Jim Escape Again
During another one of the Duke and the Dauphin's schemes, the pair poses as the two brothers of a deceased man, who left his family a large sum of money. Of course the fraudulent pair wants in on the cash, so they come up with a plan to steal it. They almost get away with it, until the real brothers show up. In all the commotion caused by the Duke and the Dauphin, Huck and Jim escape. Just when they thought they were finally rid of the Duke and the Daughpin, they climb aboard the raft. -
Jim is Sold to Uncle Silas
In the Duke and the Dauphin's most appalling scheme yet, they sell Jim to a farmer. Huck goes to the house where Jim is being held, and he is mistaken for being Tom Sawyer, as Tom was scheduled to come visit his relatives who live at the house. Huck plays along, knowing that he can easily pretend to be Tom until Tom gets back, in order to protect Jim and himself. -
Freeing Jim
Huck and Tom develop an elaborate plan to free Jim from his captures. As they carry out said plan, Tom gets shot in the leg, much to his excitement. Huck is forced to find him a doctor, and they basically end up right back where they started when Aunt Polly comes to visit, as the boys have been intercepting communications between the two sisters. -
The End
Tom reveals that Miss Watson has been dead for almost two months, and that she freed Jim in her will. So basically the whole thing was for nothing, and Jim was just a plaything that Tom used to have an "adventure".
