    The internet for everyone. Tim Berners-Lee releases his source code for the World Wide Web, It would go on to change the internet from a tool for computer scientists in research labs, to a licence free and easy to use system available to everyone.

    Google it. Google was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, it wasn't the first but it changed the way web search worked for more relevant results, it caught on.
  • DVD's

    DVD's
    A better picture.The DVD changed the way home entertainment was consumed. If you ever used a VCR, you will appreciate the much clearer picture and sound of these shiny little disks. A whole movie in the shape of a CD, and you don't even have to rewind it before you take it back to Blockbuster.

    Now you don't need to leave your house. Founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, Netflix wouldn't start its streaming service till 2007, but it started to mail out DVD's in the late nineties.
