Mount St. Helens erupted
Mount St. Helens is located in the southern part of the states of Washington. It erupted at 8:32 a.m. An earthquake at a magnitude of 5.1 struck because of the volcano erputing. Volcanic ash shot up 80,000 feet into the atmosphere. Fifty-seven people died from the result of the volcano. -

President Ronald Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'Conner to be the first women to be on the U.S. Supreme Court. September 21 the United States Senate a comfirmed O'Conner to be on the U.S. Supreme Court with votes of 99 to zero. On September 25, 1981 she was offically sworn and took her seat in the U.S. Supreme Court. -
