  • The IBM PC

    The IBM PC
    The IBM PC was originally released in the year 1981. It was created by a team led by Philip Don Estridge and Mark Dean. The IBM PC was not the first PC to be created, regardless it is considered the computer that set the standards. It introduced the Windows Operating system and the Intel processor which is commonly found in the technology. It introduced much more than that as well. Upon release, the IBM PC was immediately hit and created the industry standard for the computers of today.
  • The CD Player

    The CD Player
    In 1982, the first ever commercialized cd player was created by Sony. It was the first to be available to the public. This cd player was called the Sony CDP-101. Many people were happy to switch over to discs due to how fragile cassettes could be. Although the inventor of the device is unknown, Nobuyuki Idei was given the opportunity to name the device. This device was a massive hit in the 80's and was the beginning of the transition from cassettes to discs.

    The NES
    In 1985, the NES was released to the public and immediately became a massive hit all over the world. The device was invented by Masayuki Uemura, an employee of Nintendo. Many can argue that the NES singlehandedly saved the gaming industry with it's variety of games and stylish design. Because of this, the console is declared to be one of the most significant technological inventions of the 80's.

    Although the idea of the Disposable camera was originally created in the 1940's, the product itself was not produced or widely used until 1986 when Fujifilm created it's disposable camera. This camera was called the Fujifil QuickSnap, or also known as the Utsurun-Desu. This camera became popular on the market due to it's convenience and lightweight features. Consumer's were now able to take pictures when and wherever they wanted to. Even in our current era, disposable camera's are still a hit.
  • The Nintendo Game Boy

    The Nintendo Game Boy
    The Nintendo Game Boy was invented by Gunpei Yokoi. The Game Boy was released to the public in 1989 and became an instant hit due to it's portability and simplistic design. Many were excited to play games such as "Tetris" and "Super Mario World" whenever they wanted to. The design of the Gameboy can also be linked to the design of future cellphones. The release of the Gameboy was a very big deal in the 1980's and inspired many future inventions.
