Though, he was pro Civil Right's Act, he disapproved of the March because he feare that legistaure would not vote in their favor. -

On the their first visit, they went on the Ed Sullivan Show which 73 million people watched whiced made it " the largest audience that had ever been recorded for an American television program" accordind to the Nielsen rating service. Miranda vs Arizona
CaseThe case was about Ernesto Miranda, a man aressted for kidnapping, raping, and stealing, who was interrogated for hours with out being read his right. Miranda appealed to the U.S Supreme Court after being denied by the Arizona Supreme Court. The U.S court ruled that a suspect must be read their constitutional rights for an attorney and the right to remain silent prior to police interrogation. We now have the Miranda Rights as a reult of Miranda vs. Arizona case. -

NOWNOW was founded in 1966 by a group of activists. During its first three years, Betty Friedan, the author of the Feminine Mystique, served as president. Its original purpose was to increase women's involvwement in politics and in public, to enforce the idea that women were equal as men, and to focus on activism. -

RESPECTI The song was originally written and released Stax in 1965; however in 1967, Franklin realease her version changing several of lyrics and creating the chorus R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Her version became the a hit and an important part of the feminism movement. -
American Basketball Association (ABA) is formed
ABA Press ConferenceWhen the ABA was founded, its biggest rival was the NBA, National Basketball Association. Both leagues were very diferent: the NBA used the traditional orange basketball while the ABA used a red, blue, and white ball. The ABA also had a 30 second shot clock while the NBA had a 24 second shot clock; the ABA alsointroduced the 3 point shot. Their rivalary ended in 1976 when they folded as one. -

The Apollo astronaunts
LaunchApollo launchOn July 16, 1969, NASA lauched spacecraft Apollo !1 and three astronuants, Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins. They arrived four days later and Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. He and his fellow astronaunt, Aldrin, walked around for several hours, collecting rocks and dirt. They landed back on Earth on July 24 leaving behind the American flag and a note.
