    JFK may have had a short presidency but he brought great joy to the public and dealt with the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK was president like no other as his young age and picture perfect family made him one of America's favorite presidents.
  • The Bay of Pigs

    The U.S. tried to send in Cuban troops to overthrow Fidel Castro's rule over Cuba but it ended up being a failed operation.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis

    This was where the U.S. discovered that there were Soviet missiles in Cuba aimed right at the U.S. so the people were looking to Kennedy for a solution. Kennedy ended up making a deal with Khrushchev and agreed to remove the U.S.'s missiles from Turkey and the Soviet Union would remove their missiles from Cuba.
  • John F. Kennedy's assassination

    While riding through the Dealey Plaza in his presidential motorcade, Kennedy was fatally shot by and unknown person. This cause a national upset as the public just adored Kennedy
  • The start of the Great Society

    Lyndon B. Johnson was just elected into office and it was during a graduation speech to the graduates of the University of Michigan where Johnson started talking of this "Great Society" he was going to create with a long line of social programs.
  • The Civil Rights Act is passed

    The Civil Rights Act was passed which prevented "discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. It prohibits unequal application of voter registration requirements, and racial segregation in schools, employment, and public accommodations.".
  • The assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

    MLK at this time gained massive support for his passive civil rights movements so that segregation could finally be expelled. However, his glory run was ended when James Earl Ray fatally shot on April 4th, 1968. This caused many black people in the U.S. to react violently as MLK was like a beacon of hope for them/
  • The Civil Rights Act of 1968 is passed

    This Act was passed by Lyndon B. Johnson which expanded upon and reinforced the original Civil Rights Act which was passed in 1964
  • The first man on the moon

    With the space race still going on, the U.S. raced to be the first on the moon and they ended up succeeding with the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle.
