The Starving Time
During the winter of 1609-10, 440 of the 500 settlers in Jamestown died due to starvation. -

War between Puritan settlers and Wampanoag Indians began in Massachusetts after settlers began to crowd into the tribes land. The war is named after the Wampanoag Chief, Metacomet, who adopted the name King Philip after settlers began to arrive in the area. -
Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials begin in Massachusetts. Around 200 people were accused of witchcraft but only 20 people (14 women and 6 men) were found guilty and executed. -
Carolina Colony Split
The Carolina Colony which stretched from Virginia to Florida was split into North Carolina and South Carolina. -
Georgia Colony
Founded by James Oglethorpe, the Georgia Colony was created to be a barrier between British colonies in South Carolina and Spanish colonies in Florida. -
